I love what is now being called cottagecore, but I'm getting to hate the stupidity of the term and I really have zero patience with the people I keep running across on tumblr who have somehow convinced themselves that "Victorian cottage in the English countryside" aesthetic is really a Nazi or "death-to-Native-Americans" aesthetic. Somehow.

apparently it is "colonialist" and "imperialist" and "symbolic of the death of the native American way of life." Yeah idk either. I've read some of the lengthy rants but they don't really make any coherent points beyond that it sometimes looks more like a Victorian cottage in the American countryside than the English countryside and that's bad.

There are occasionally bloggers who have a cottage-y, home cooking, back to basics aesthetic who are in fact weirdo neo-con white supremacists - but those aren't, like, the majority or anything? It's just a thing that you gotta keep an eye out for, like eugenicists in basically any sci-fi fandom or dude who are way too into loli in anime fandoms.
