there's a certain place for children in fandom, but it absolutely is NOT doing meta posts or making analysis vids, because they aren't capable of doing those things even slightly well. Their place is to make badfic and draw silly anime-style fan art and squee over their cute faves and take silly quizzes about which character should they marry. They need to leave the rest alone till they gain a bit more life experience and maturity, and the adults who push or manipulate them into doing it also need to leave it alone.

Eh, I disagree. There are plenty of teens who are into the meta and more serious sides of fandom and can't stand the badfic and the "which character should you marry" polls and the terrible fanart. I know, I was one of them.

Which was why I pretended to be older so that I could participate in fandom and be taken seriously instead of just being written off as another stupid teenager.

There's a difference between, say, a 16 year old doing meta posts, versus a 12 year old
