I enjoyed the movie, but the whole 'I leaned to read AND do maths!!' felt like it was coming from such a modern perspective of what movies tell us life was like for ladies back then rather than what actual history tells us.

Reading, writing, maths, sports, music, even a bit of science were very common place for rich ladies of the time to learn, they weren't uneducated dolts at all because they were expected to run the household and you can't do that if you don't know how to count above 5 or write a letter.

It seems to be a bit of a common failing of modern stories set in the 1800-early 1900's though and I feel there are ways of exploring how restrictive life was for women back then while also not outright lying and making it seem like women didn't know how to read and write until like the 1930's or something.
