...Neil Gaiman has stated they're together. Anyone who's queer recognized it. Crowley literally asked Azirphale to run away with him.

Along with all the little sartorial and in-text references to gay culture and aesthetics. Whether they're actually fucking is a technicality about on the order as whether non-human spiritual entities who take the form of humans in order to play their part of the ineffable plan also can dance on the head of a pin.

word of god isn't canon, and he initially said 100% that they weren't gay or in love, he only changed his tune when fans started hounding him on twitter for not validating their headcanon.

i'm queer, they're still not gay.

Nayrt: The idea that two throughly queer coded characters whose primary conflict involves choosing each other over the taboos of their home cultures, whose idea of passing as human seems to involve a fair bit of iconic gay signifiers, absolutely can't be read as gay without some explicit declaration of sexual intent (lacking in Supernatural), is a stretch.

I kinda agree that they probably are not at the bumping uglies stage, if only because Gaiman is not at all squeamish about gay or straight sex. So I suspect that it's more of an "angels and demons don't do sex thing" than a "Crowley and Aziraphale don't have a highly intimate connection" thing. But silly me I'm a queer with relationships that can't be summed up with "who is the bottom?"

You're right, they're not. Because Aziraphale likely doesn't identify as male and Crowley is hoarding all the genders ever. But they're still together. That's the entire point. What the fuck do you think was meant by, "You go too fast for me." In response to, "Let's run away together" to boot! Like, what the fuck, nevermind the book outright says anyone who'd meet Aziraphale would know he's gay.

The entire joke behind every tape becoming Queen in Crowley's car is because Queen is queer culture. Aziraphale is almost textbook "I'm a queer person raised in a very strict Christian culture who's fallen in love with a non-Christian, and oh boy does it look gay, oh God what do I do." He struggles with choosing Crowley over what's familiar, but in the end still chooses Crowley.

And you're wrong, he said they weren't GAY because THEY'RE NOT MEN. Fucking Christ.
