I have one fic I feel this way about, mostly because my interpretation of the characters has massively changed since I wrote it (it was my first fic for my OTP). So it feels really OOC to me and I don't like it. But I don't take it down because it still gets likes, and I feel like I should leave it up for readers. But I'm much happier when other fics get kudos than when that one does.

Let me just say that separating the art from the artist is not, like, an objectively correct thing to do. Being unable to separate the art from the artist is not a failing.

And there are an infinite number of people who worked hard on projects that never got any positive attention, because it was bad or for a million other projects. Does it suck? Absolutely.
