I know you said Brian deserves better than anyone there, but I do think there’s potential in a role swap AU. If Kate is hired as the Hunter and Brian is hired as an ordinary worker, then Hugo doesn’t see Brian as a threat. Brian will still want to protect Kate, of course, but it seems like it could lead Brian on the path of trying to save Hugo from himself. (It would be tricky to set up, though.)
