He really was done dirty and I remember (during my baby steps into Who in the 90s, so I was reading magazines and stuff) I got the impression some quarters thought Colin Baker was unreasonable refusing to come back for that one scene? Idk but he did a stage show*, does loads of the audiobooks, attends conventions and seems to speak fondly of the role now, which is classier than I could be had I been fired when it wasn't really my fault.

*(I saw him do panto in the mid-90s and they leaned HEAVILY on his role as The Doctor in that! Only part I remember even though it made no damned sense.)

I feel so sad about how Colin Baker got treated during Doctor Who. He always seemed really good towards his fans despite what had happened though.

It's years since I read it but I used to have a book that contained mostly quotes (from him and others) about his time before, during and after Doctor Who. From what I remember he seemed to get over any resentment fairly quickly and I believe it really was because of the fanbase.

It's panto, it doesn't have to make sense. I bet he was brilliant....

From what little I remember he was. He went off script a few times (he was the baddie) to in-character chastise people who were going to the toilet/otherwise leaving their seats for whatever reason.
