See this is why I internally screamed in horror when I found out they were making GO. It used to be a very chill, light hearted and fun book fandom, albeit super duper quiet. Now the justify-everything and must-be-woke hellion hoardes of social media fandom has been unleashed upon it, bringing forth unbelievably shit fic and endless navel gazing and hand wringing.

There's still a lot of good art and fic being produced - the show created a huge surge in that at least - but the discourse is just completely exhausting and tedious on all levels.

For real, the good omens fandom seriously spiked my blood pressure last year, lmao. There was some really great art and fic and stuff that kept me around, but then I realised I was losing my mind and had to take a break! it was too much!

Admittedly it did get a lot worse, but there were always a bunch of "my headcanon is CANON" people in GO fandom and some aggressive gate-keeping.
