That sounds more like fridge horror to me. It wasn't intended to be horrific, but if you think about it too hard then it suddenly becomes it.

I mean, it's pretty easily horrific. It's not like it's a small revelation, it's a huge one where you have to escape the island while the bugsnax try to force themselves down your throats and make you part of the island permanently... Given how it's presented, I'm not sure it's Fridge Horror, given Fridge Horror comes from you thinking about it and not it being. Literal text.
