See for me, at least Doctor Townsend is a really well-done manipulative creep

Agreed. The stuff with him and the young kid was bone-chilling.

George is...weird, 'cause I don't really get creeped out by him, in large part because it's hard to find him all that threatening when he's talking-I get kind of a jokester-era Freddy Krueger vibe from him in those moments. But I do find him interesting in terms of what he reveals about whatever Kristen's afraid of and dealing with.

I very much fully agree with the OP on more of watching the team do their thing and Ben being his awesome self, though :D. The more we can learn about the team themselves, and the more we get to see them interact, the better for me.

I agree. You might notice that my complaint isn't that I think the character is badly done, I just don't like him and he gives me the creeps. That's part of what makes him such an effective character. But it's kind of like mushroom pizza... it can be an amazing pizza made by an amazing pizza maker, but if you don't like mushrooms, you're probably not going to enjoy it. That doesn't make it a bad pizza. Just one you don't like, for good reasons.

Well, that's fair.

But I also think, like. Evil is supposed to be a horror show! Having characters like that makes sense in a horror show. It's not an adventure show, where team good times would make more sense.

Adventure and horror aren't mutually exclusive, though.

But... they already have team good times in the show? Everything OP mentions in the second half of the secret is already in the show, OP just wants more of it. Their paranormal cases already have strong elements of horror that exist independently from either of the two characters named in the secret. So "it's a horror show not an adventure show" doesn't make any sense.

For me, my inability to figure out why the grandmother is even slightly interested in him is the least enjoyable part of the show for me. (Although I'm generally all for grandparents getting some, ig.)

That too. Even if he weren't a possible demon and/or evil bastard, she could do better.

Michael Emerson is a very charming man

I just go with the idea she's being manipulated/possessed by him somehow. She was shown to have something of a flighty side to her even before she met Leland, so that's the perfect opening for someone like him to come in and take advantage of that.
