I don't think it's that weird. I think we often look for thing in fandom that are different from real life.

I also think dysfunctional relationships are far more interesting (to watch) all in al.

I mostly like loving, happy couples, but there's absolutely something compelling about fucked up and messy ones too. I just don't tend to vibe with them as often but man are they excellent when I do.

To be fair, Angel was extremely boring. I don't prefer Angelus much myself, he's a bit OTT, but Angel was very boring. So I don't blame you for looking for anything with a bit more interest than him.

You & me both OP. I think it's more of a seeking something/exploring something you would not have the desire to do in real life.

I tend to love villains, but IRL villainous behavior is a turn off.

Same here. Liking bad boys and girls in fiction is a way to express those kind of feelings without having a toxic relationship irl. I would never want to date a villain but damn do they rev my engine.

Exactly! (I guess?) Especially because when you think about the kinda of behavior you excuse in a character you like, if someone told you your hot neighbor did that, they wouldn't be so hot anymore and most people would be appalled (depending on the behavior). I think about all the dark!character fic I've read (or just of characters who are fucked up and the relationships are awful and toxic) and I can't look away -- but when faced with say an actual awful things people do, it's not the kind of thing that's attractive.

I mean I also really like incredibly honorable characters who are steadfast in their righteousness and still able to see the grey in things. Their struggle is often delicious. Which makes me sound awful lol but it's just also very attractive to me.

I enjoy some questionable kinks but I understand I would never want to act any of it out IRL. Dangerous bad boys is definitely some stories I love reading about or watching in films from time to time but I also love consuming sweet fluff. I think your interests are normal so long as you understand it's just a form of entertainment you enjoy.

It's not. I am drawn to bad boys in fiction or the evil one always. I feel like they can be helped or changed not sure why and angelus is like bad boy capnip angel thr show he is more explored then on buffy and i am happy for that i found bangel to be so boring and sappy spuffy i dislike cause he went from hating her to loving her and it was just ugg angelus would of been great with willow cause he saw her as a powerful match.
