I've read a fair few myths where Hera pretty much outright hates Zeus, but there aren't any where she punishes him for being a cheating piece of shit.
You wanna know why? Because that straight-up would not have occurred to the Greeks. That wasn't how they saw the world or relationships. Men fuck whoever they want, women get to live with it (or not, as the case may be). If you're a woman and your husband cheats on you, well, deal with it. If you're a man and your wife cheats on you, have you considered brutally murdering her?

Hera's a goddess, but between her and Zeus, one has all the power and it's not the goddess of marriage.

yeah, right? I mean Zeus is a dick who will stick it in anything mortal or immortal but "cheating POS" by 2020 standards is not what the Greeks would have considered.

'sides, Hera was also his sister so if you wanna go there, let's talk about sisters and brothers fucking to create worlds and humans, since that happens in a lot of pantheons...

right? I can’t believe people are trying to apply modern mortal standards to Ancient Greek Gods.

Like, no shit every Greek god is terrible. They’re *gods*. Morals don’t apply to them because they are above that.

+1 it's not even a matter of them being above it or not--they're gods, full stop. Mortal rules and morals and mentalities mean jack shit.

> Hera's a goddess, but between her and Zeus, one has all the power

Yeah that's it exactly. She punishes who she can. And it's not her husband.

You mean "she vents her frustrations by abusing the vulnerable". That doesn't warm me up to her.

So what should she do, just smile and nod? She was raped in response to rejecting Zeus, and then forced to marry him as a result. If anything, this really does show how little Zeus cares about anything but himself and getting his dick wet tbh

They have absolutely contemplated that, but the only goddess who has been able to do anything about Zeus was Demeter and that's because culturally she's a way more ancient goddess as her cult started on Crete, and also because her area of influence effects every other god except Hades.
