127 I tend to agree that a lot of anime these days is crap, but that doesn't mean that the entire medium should be judged by a few popular shows and overexplored genres. TV is full of shitty television shows as well, most people only watch like two or three of them, so why should animation be any different? Look at me, I'm not watching any new anime. Nothing this season is interesting to me in the slightest. But I'm not going to say it's all crap.

155 Maybe because skinny women ARE ALL OVER TV ALL THE DAMN TIME even though they represent less than half of the female population. Yes there are healthy skinny people that exist in real life but that body type literally dominates tv and the media, so it's good to see someone curvier on tv once and awhile.

I don't think the OP was saying that there shouldn't be more plus-sized women on tv, just that the phrase "real woman" shouldn't be used in connection with a woman's body type. It kind of suggests that you're somehow less of a woman if you're skinny or society's definition of pretty.
I'm all for self-empowerment and being happy with who you are, but not at the cost of bringing someone else down.

But no one said anything at all about seeing or not seeing more large women on TV/movies/whatever. They said "don't heap praises of being 'a real woman' on her, because thin women are ALSO real women and deserve the same amount of respect." In other words "feel good about yourself, but not by tearing someone else down."
