Moon Unit isn't so bad because Unit is her middle name and she just goes by Moon, which is no longer that silly by todays standards (espeically since there are now apparently kids named Pilot Inspektor and Bronx Mowgli thrown in the mix). If you wanna pick a bone with Frank for his kid's names, let's talk about Dweezil (or maybe not, since he did choose to keep that one), or Diva's middle names, which are Thin Muffin Pigeen.

I always had this running joke about my kid's names. The first one is gonna be Lord Kimboat (cookie if you get the reference) and my friend is going to name her second kid Lord Kimboat too (first one is going to be Lasagna Danger, so he can say that Danger really is his middle name), and then we can send them to the same school and be like "Two Lord Kimboats in the same school? What are the odds?" And then my next two kids aren't going to have any vowels in their names, and my last one is going to be called Deathtron3000 (I figure, either no one will ever fuck with that kid, or everyone will). And then when my children kill me in my sleep, all the judge will have to do is look at their names, and all will be forgiven.

I still find Moon to be ridiculous. And Dweezil! See, I would've said that one, but I'd forgotten it. I don't really pay much attention to celebrities personal lives, I just remember Pilot Inspektor and Frank Zappa's kids from my parents' conversations when I was younger. Actually, I think Pilot Inspektor is rather recent - I may have picked that up from an imdb surf.

Well, you certainly have me beat in the strange name department. The weirdest name I've got in my bag is "Ender," which has an obvious refrence. XD I may have to show my mother this comment so that she'll stop making fun of me for my adoration of names like "Margot" and "Imogen." (Though I say I don't want any girls anyway, and that I'll probably let my husband name those if I get stuck with any, so I guess it doesn't matter.)

Lord Kimboat - I feel like I should know this, actually, but I can't recall. I feel like a failure now. XD

I gotta admit I like the middle name being Danger thing, but the rest of those names kind of remind me of a Dane Cook skit. Hahaha.

I'm a huge dork. I spend too muchtime thinking up silly things like what I should name my future kids so they'll eventually commit matricide. =/

I love the name Imogen. And it's totally something I really would name a kid. Unlike Dorcas, which I also love but would never actually burden a child with. Speaking of that name, my sister has a friend whose name is Marcus. His wife's name is Dorcas. Their last name is Farcus. I so wish I was making that up, but I'm not.

Lord Kimboat is a name from one of my favorite episodes of the X-Files, Jose Chung's From Outer Space.

Did you just compare my silly little story from high school to a Dane Cook skit? Oh my god, I think I fell in love with you! What a sweet thing to say! =)

Haha, I do similar things. I usually wonder about lies I can tell them that would totally fuck them up, like "Santa Claus eats children that stay up past their bedtime on Christmas Eve, and the cookies we put out are supposed to act as a distraction." Maybe I just read too much Calvin and Hobbes growing up. XD

I love it, too, and I think it's really pretty, especially spelled that way, but my mom says it's a name even sixty-year-old women don't want and it would be cruel to name her poor grandbaby that. (Like my name was a nice thing to do to a kid! DX)

DAMNIT. I knew I should've known that! I haven't watched X-Files in a long time, but it used to be my favourite show. :/

Haha, thank goodness, I was afraid you'd be wanting to kill me, instead. I love Dane Cook, but I've noticed he's one of those comedians that people either love or despise. You do know which skit I'm talking about, though, right? The one where he says he wants like nineteen kids?

(just in case you don't know what I'm talking about. XD)

I've noticed that about Dane Cook too, and it makes me sad because he's very funny. I think my favorite joke he has is the one about the atheist getting reincarnated as a tree that gets turned into a Bible. I'd forgotten about the kids one though.

I've noticed that there are so many old fashioned names that I adore but I'd never actually name anyone that. It's kind of sad, until I realize that I probably will never have that many kids.

I just rewatched the entire X-File series over the fall, so it's pretty fresh in my mind. I love that episode.

My stepdad one Christmas set up a Santa massacre. It came complete with a mounted deer head on the wall that had a red clown nose stuck on it. Great thing to wake up to on Christmas morning. Whenever people ask where I get my sense of humor from, all I have to do is tell them stories about that man, and it becomes totally obvious.

AH, MY GOD, I love that one. XD

Haha, I know what you mean. I don't plan on having...well, honestly, I don't plan on having any. If I get some, great, if I don't, great. I'm not really picky about my future. XD

Lucky you! Now all I get these days are the odd episode shown at five in the morning that I manage to catch while my roommate's back at home for the weekend.

Oh my god, that is fantastic! I have a similar issue with my own dad, actually. He and I have very morbid senses of humor. My mother, too, really - it's really no question where I get my weirdo quirks, once people meet my family. Haha.

I don't actually plan on having kids now either. So really, all these fun names I pick out have more of a chance of going to animals than anything else.

People look at me really oddly when I tell them that that was one of my favorite Christmases, but it was. He was a really funny guy.

Re: 128

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2009-01-04 09:12 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, I used to play the Sims a lot, and that's where all my creative and fun names went. Sadly, Sims doesn't work on my new laptop, so I had to give it up. Salright, though, I'm probably gonna end up a crazy cat lady anyway, so there will be plenty of animals to name. XD

I understand completely - when I tell people some of my favourite memories (my paternal grandfather's funeral, the Christmas our tree caught fire, my first car wreck, etc), they'll just gape at me, but I have to explain that my family was with me on all occations, and well, they just tend to make things funny. XD

I have a friend who parents didn't give her a middle name, so she could choose it herself later. She legally changed her middle name to Danger, for exactly your reason. XD

Your friend is awesome. I'm - I'm actually in awe of such a person.
