I do this for Upstate New York. The representation of anything other than New York City and the outlying areas is little to none. Especially the Capital District. Come on guys, Albany-Schenectady-Troy needs love too.

Once, they mentioned Broome County and/or Binghamton on an episode of Law and Order and I freaked out. Except... they were trying to send a pedophile there.

My friend loves SVU and she always tells me when they go searching for a suspected rapist in Troy or the area. I guess something about Upstate screams 'haven for criminals'.

To be fair, I live in Binghamton and they have to send letters about pedophiles moving into the area a little too often... but it's an incredibly odd generalization for all of Upstate.

That's a pretty awesome idea. I'd do it for the Rochester-Buffalo area myself, but I'd have a better chance of winning the Mega before I saw anyone mention those places in the media.

Well, Albany gets mentioned fleetingly whenever there is a NYS political story. When the Spitzer thing broke, we were popularish.

Buffalo has a football team...at least?

You say 'football team', I say 'embarrassment to the NFL'. Buffalo hasn't done anything in over ten years except suck and yet they still keep getting funded.

And I hadn't thought about the news mentions, to be honest. If we're counting them, Rochester got a brief mention for that whole Fast Ferry thing between them and Canada that fell through.

Ha, don't. I love New York City a lot more than my hometown. I just, for some strange reason, feel pride when it is mentioned.
