112. So wait, does that mean that people who do have POC in their icons don't have skeevy race issues? Because in my experience having POC in your LJ icons doesn't necessarily exonerate from racist behavior, but then if I knew that all I needed to not be racist was to have and use certain types of icons then I guess we just found that solution to racism. < / sarcasm >

Yeah that makes no sense. I get how subconsciously people may not have those icons because they may not be as attracted to or drawn to POC but you can't really tell that for sure from a person's collection of icons.

And that's assuming the fandoms they're into even have POC characters. I only have 15 icon slots. Of those I've only chosen to have 4 fandom icons from 3 fandoms. 2/3 of those fandoms have a very small set of main characters and none of them are POC. The other fandom I have *one* icon of and while I agree both Martha and Mickey rock, I'd rather have an icon of the Doctor. Apparently choosing the main character over one of the secondary characters makes me racist now. *rolls eyes*

None of the characters are female and all but icon feature Brits or characters played by British actors. So no doubt I have gender and xenophobia issues too lol.

But obviously if you were TRULY not racist you would hunt down shows with minority casts and enjoy them only.

Still wouldn't have room for icons of them lol. Certainly don't care what the idiot who posted the secret thinks though, I think I'll stick to picking my icons based on 'oooh pretty' rather than 'hmm do I have the correct blend of races, genders, and sexualities'?

Oh I agree, I can get the reasoning even though it leaves out way too many variables to make any judgment either way really inaccurate and unreliable.

If anything, it probably doesn't say anything about an actual individual, rather it may just show the problems with the industry. (Why aren't their more general and genre shows with non-white leads and such).

I agree about there not being as many non white leads maybe being an issue.

I think the secret says a lot more about the poster than anyone else - I choose which characters to like based on their characterisation, apparently the poster chooses merely based on their skin colour. That sounds pretty racist to me - judging purely by race instead of anything else. Which is pretty silly.

BTW, can't help but note that there don't seem to be any Hispanic or Native American characters in the OC's image...

Agreed. And since we're requesting, I'd like that said characters not start sucking hard after x amount of episodes. Heroes, I am looking at you.
