Yeah, um, Lithuania just kind of takes crap from EVERYONE. ;__; Nobody believes me when I'm like "PoLiet is not all fluffy bunnies!", but it's true. orz Even the "Outsourcing" strip kind of bothers me, because Liet seems so HAPPY in his new life, but...it's talking about immigrant work. And, uh, has Himaruya SEEN the way we treat(ed) our immigrants? Uh, yeah. That's almost as icky as the stereotype of the "happy slave" from the 1800s. >.<

YES, TEAMWORK AND PARTNERSHIP AND INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY ~~and of course rye, because how else can one identify TRUE LOVE and EVERLASTING FRIENDSHIP? THERE MUST BE RYYYYYE FIEEEELDS!!~~

Well, they're mostly the older generation and the young people are apparently much more friendly?? idk. I sadly never got the chance to travel there ;_;

I'll be the first one to say it's not all fluffy bunnies and it's my second OTP for life. The only more-or-less historicaly accurate portrayal of their relationship seems to be the fourth main chapter, but seeing as there is a fuckton of unfair stereotyping we can thank the Russians for, I'd wager these two are the only people ever who actually know what their relationship is like :'D

I read (on a page about international prejudices and stereotypes, though, so the authenticity is dubious) that the Polish kind of hate the Lithuanians, actually. I'd never heard about it actually being the other way around. But of course it makes sense. :/ That's too bad you haven't gotten to go there! :( But there's always the future, right?

Hahaha! WHAT SECOND OTP? ;p ...Oh wait, I have one that supersedes it, too. XD Oh yeah, chapter four. That one gives me an icky feeling (anything with the Partitions always does >.<). I thought that one seemed to be pretty accurate, too, but at the same time it was kind of uncomfortable to read. POLAND, YOU BLIND FOOL. ;__; I think it's up for a lot of interpretation, personally. I tend to think of the Partitions exactly that way, but Poland acts so nonchalant for very different reasons. But no matter how you look at it, the whole Vlinius mess makes him come off as very much like Russia, orz. Also, *gasp* th-that smiley face...! I recognize it!! YOU WERE THAT OP!ANON ON THE KINK MEME, WEREN'T YOU? I've... never heard of Poles not liking Lithuanians! There are stereotypes against Russians, Germans, Czechs, Americans and Muslims, but Lithuanians? Weird.

My OTP of forever and ever is Klarth/Mirald and yes, I know you've never heard of them. Most people didn't. :(

I like to think that the Partitions didn't go like that or that Poland was acting this way because he thought that if he did anything else, Russia would hurt Liet. ~~I obviously liked that fic too much.~~ And Vilnius... dear God, Vilnius. A lot of (young) people I know think it was a horrible thing to do, but, hm. Let me put it this way. Wars happen, and I've never found their relationship stellar or perfect in any way. And considering that it seems Lithuania forgave him that... kfhkdj oh my god yeah. CAN YOU GUESS WHAT I ELSE DID I REQUEST THOUGH~

I don't know that Lithuania was happy as much as relieved to get away from an even worse situation, although his relationship with America seem to be based on the history of good relations between the two countries (although it most likely soured after the Yalta Conference, but improved after the Soviet fell although America never recognized Lithuania as a Soviet state).

That's true; by comparison, even life as an immigrant probably felt like god's own mercy. But he appears to be seriously in love with his new life in the strips, not even comparatively. Eh.

Personally, I think Lithuania was probably a little disappointed that America's only support during the Soviet absorption was to say, "oh, yeah, we don't recognize you as belonging to them. ...Oh, what, you mean you would've liked actual help? Pfft!" And by disappointed, I mean miffed. Not that Liet ever gets miffed. Although relations themselves are good, political dispositions don't really erase social ones. :/

I don't know, he's personally helping America and prolly thankful for the sanctuary he gave him, but I don't think he was in love with the whole thing. He looked more relaxed than anything.
