What is your favorite and least favorite sitcom?

(Anonymous) 2020-12-01 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Inspired by secret #7!

My personal fave is a tossup between Frasier and My Name Is Earl - both are as witty as they are funny. Least favorite is... well... there's a lot of sitcoms I cannot bare to watch, now that I think about it. Everybody Loves Raymond makes me grit my teeth and Last Man Standing is like nails on a chalkboard.

SA

And another question to add to that: what are some of your personal favorite scenes or skits from your fave sitcoms?

Favorites are Married with Children, Soap, and Keeping Up Appearances.

Hard to tell which ones are the least favorite, since I couldn't even finish watching the first episode of so many series (most sitcoms released during the last five years).

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAP!
Omg. We loved that so much - we'd all sit and watch it when I was a kid, my dad thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. So great!

"Soap" is wild :D. That's one of my mom's favorite shows, and I've grown up watching the reruns with her. It's hilarious.

I'll echo everyone else who's been mentioning "Frasier". A true classic, that one. And I like "WKRP" as well, because my dad worked in radio as a DJ for much of his life and the characters on that show feel very familiar and relatable to me as a result :). I find that comforting.

I can't think of a least favorite because if I didn't like it, I didn't stick with it long enough to remember it. Maybe That '70s Show? I still like the show, but Hyde was my favorite character and I can't look at him the same after finding out Danny Masterson's a rapist.

The Big Bang Theory was my favorite until Bernadette got pregnant (and I still rewatch the earlier seasons). It felt like the show really went downhill after that and I wasn't into the last few seasons, but at least it had a pretty nice ending.

I noticed quite a few shows seem to go downhill after somebody has a baby

I love Frasier!
Everybody Loves Raymond annoys me too

My favorite sitcom is Newsradio, because it's the best (at least for the first 3 seasons, and then still amazing for the fourth season, and then the fifth season doesn't count, RIP Phil Hartman)

It's the best because it had the best cast - everyone in it is amazing, even people who are awful in everything else they've ever been in, but in particular, Phil Hartman + Dave Foley + Stephen Root + Maura Tierney is the strongest backbone a sitcom has ever had. It was just amazing at being fantastically energetic and lively and screwball, while also being willing and able to be really dark and cynical. Nothing else really hits the same spot. Just a perfect show.

I really like Frasier too but Kelsey Grammar is such a dick cheese irl that he kinda ruins the show for me. Same with Tim Allen.

I just loved Hot In Cleveland. And I really like Bob's Burgers.

Favorite: How I Met Your Mother (minus the ending). Malcolm in the Middle has a fond spot in my heart because my dad and I watched it together.

Least: most of the rest of them. Absolute worst ones would be Home Improvement (I loath Tim Allen and forced gender stereotypes), Friends, The Nanny (her voice was too grating for me, I couldn't watch), Family Matters (it would have been a good show if they stuck with the original plan), and Two and a Half Men.

Tim Allen is only tolerable when he's doing some sort of Bill Shatner imitation (Toy Story and Galaxy Quest, haha)

Very true because those are good movies. In fact, Galaxy Quest is one of my favorites, though TBH mostly for the rest of the cast.

Faves: Frasier, Malcom in the Middle, Keeping Up Appearances.

Honestly I think I dislike a lot of sitcoms, but I suppose the ones I especially dislike are: Everybody Loves Raymond and Two and a Half Men.

Favourite — Parks and Recreation, Coupling (the UK version only), ODAAT (rip). Like an above commenter, I also really enjoyed That '70s Show before cast revelations kind of ruined it for me.

Least favourite — The Big Bang Theory. Friends. HIMYM.

I'd have to think about favorite, but least favorite... Friends was highly overrated, IMO. Ditto Seinfeld.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is my big fave right now but I'm not in love with all of it. Other fave is Bob's Burgers.
