ew, furries will buy anything with fluffy ears and a dick in its ass.

to be perfectly honest, your art is probably really mediocre. like i said, furries will buy ANYTHING. you need to get out of there and work on improving, work with things besides anthromorphic animals. hone your skills. figure out what your real style is.

or you could stay where you are and continue to whine and be miserable. what's more important to you? the love of drawing, or money?

I draw all kinds of things and never ventured beyond four legged creatures before drawing for furries. I have my first commissioner to thank for the fact I'm starting to get the hang of a recognisably human form. Not sure about style - my own commissioners have argued with me that my main influence can't possibly be anime (eeh?).

I feel I need to make it clear that I've always stuck strictly to clean work, which works on small forums but not the big furry sites like FurAffinity. That and I was underage when I offered them. I don't want to taint myself with that sort of thing since it can come back to haunt you and, really, I don't know how to draw it.

In truth, I haven't made much money as college and medical problems have kept me from doing all the commissions thrown at me and it's taken a year to sort things out with all the commissioners. I've had one commissioner who won't pay and instead goes to cons and buys fursuits (joy!) and given away far more art than the total profit supposedly amounts to (reading artist comms makes me think the t-shirt designs, sketches and commissions-turned-sympathy-freebies have a value). When I was actively asking I got lots of people say I under priced, which probably gave me more ego than deserved.

Personally, I'm terrible at designing working characters. I get pleasure from what I feel is a success and being offered a subject to draw helps me to know what I'm aiming for. I started taking commissions to save up for a gift last year, but my own slowness has changed it to my randomly switching the word to 'request', which the anime fandom still won't take me up on.

I'd love to work with human characters but I just don't get feedback on them. Not even a 'you're doing it wrong'. A whole year of trying to get attention without being obnoxious sort of drives you mad, haha. I doodle people all the time though, not always showing it to others, but it tends to look so sloppy and lazy compared to the 'doodles' other people present online.

I think it just got to the point where I needed to get things off my chest. Thanks for letting me explore it a bit more.
