101 - I write dub scripts for anime. It annoys me to no end that "hardcore fans" want as many words and expressions left untranslated as possible, and they're simply not willing to accept alternatives or understand concepts as "sounding natural" and "fluent translation." Still, it's me writing the scripts so fuck them, I still do the best job I can by my own standards. Hahahaha.

125 - Yes, yes, it's wrong and sick and people who like it/ship characters/ship certain characters/etc. are insensitive, vile monsters. Yes, we know. Can we move on to something else now? (When does the new Dr Who series start, dammit!)

What a cool job you have, whiners not included. Just out of curiosity, what dubs have you worked on?

Sadly it doesn't really pay well enough... and the deadlines are horrid. :/ Still, it could be much worse and at least I have a job so I'm not complaining. ^^;;

I worked on the local dubs of the first season of Bleach (1-52), Honey and Clover, Honey and Clover II and Gankutsuou (which managed to break my heart again)... and the next project will be probably Chrono Crusade (um, is it any good? I haven't seen it yet). Also, I did subtitles for Trigun and "edited" (which in many cases meant rewriting most of the translation) the subs of of numerous other shows.

Chrono Crusade? I missed a big chunk of the middle episodes because the channel I saw it on had scheduling issues, but it has the distinction of being an anime series that made me cry like a baby.

Then I'll prepare an extra box of tissues... (I hope it won't be as heart-breaking as Gankutsuou)

Chrono Crusade is pretty good, but they change the ending substantially from the manga IIRC, and I preferred the manga.

Also, I'm very jealous of you and wish I could speak Japanese. I've been trying to teach myself while I'm bored at work as prep for law school. I'm trying to get into a school with an international intellectual property program, and I want to focus on Japanese stuff. haha

but this comment makes me want to go watch Gankutsuou AGAIN.

Don't be jealous, at least you know something practical. ^^;; Sadly it seems the only thing I'm good at is translating...

Oh, Gankutsuou. My heart, my poor heart. Usually I'm not the type who cries at movies, but I think I've never cried as much as during the time I worked on that show.

Hmm... Out of curiosity, where are you located? I only ask because Bleach and Gankutsuou were done on the west coast, but the rest of them were done centrally. Also, I could've sworn Chrno Crusade was already done by ADV--are they re-releasing it...?

Sorry to bombard you with questions. XD I work in dubs too, as an actor, so when I saw that you did as well I couldn't help but poke my nose in.

Ah, I'm in Hungary (unfortunately). I translate for the Hungarian branch of Animax. :)

Oh, so you're a voice actor? That's cool~ I always wanted to try voice acting but sadly my enunciation leaves a bit to be desired and my voice is not particularly nice, so... :/ (Though I was offered to play the dog in Honey and Clover xD unfortunately I had no time.)

Oh, Hungarian dubs! That's awesome! I didn't even know they had Hungarian dubs~ XDD I keep forgetting that America isn't the internet.

Awww! Maybe you can do something in the future? :D Enunciation does have a big part to play, but I know sometimes in American stuff you don't necessarily have to have a nice voice--just a memorable one.

Oh, God, even more relevant to dub scripts, yes. I say for April Fool's, instead of leaving in the words fans think you should, leave completely arbitrary bits in Japanese.

The new Doctor was announced a few days ago, we should be seeing a flood pretty soon...

That is...the most awsome job ever. o.0 I can't help but be a little jealous of you for that, 'cause I would LOVE to have that job. And kudos to you for brushing off the "hardcore fans." That's what you gotta do to get your job done, after all. XD
