129. Oh hey, entitlement. And to make this even sadder, I bet most people would obviously respect a writer's "Please don't archive this fic anywhere else!" request. Art just seems to be treated like more of a fun little novely in English-speaking fandom. :/

Honestly, the way I see it? People are writing/drawing/whatever about someone else's intellectual property and me not crediting fanartist #452 for taking a 100x100 square of their's isn't any different.

If the artist doesn't care or just doesn't ever happen to see it, then I guess you can get away with it, but saying "FFFF WHATEVS" when someone has directly asked for their work not to be distrbuted is pretty asinine.

I dunno, I wouldn't mind if someone took and quoted one of my fics. Or even archived it somewhere, as long as they weren't claiming to have written it. I also don't get why people can write fanfiction with canon characters, but can't use other people's characters that they created for their fanfiction. I mean, I'd feel uncomfortable doing it just because I'd feel more awkward about keeping the character IC, but for some major fanfics with original/AU characters, they'd be great fun to write stories about/roleplay and I don't see why they should be off-limits. Same thing with icons. :/
