I hate hate HATE when people are all, "Don't hate! YOU couldn't have written a book that good when you were fifteen!" because, um, I did. And it was terrible. And I'd probably be dead from embarrassment by now if I'd tried to publish it, let alone if it had actually worked (which it wouldn't have, even if some editor were tasteless enough, if only because it was magical realism rather than the sort of generic mid-to-high fantasy people were gobbling up at the time). My parents wanted me to anyway. Thank God they don't own a publishing house.
Also, he's not actually fifteen anymore, and hasn't been for a long time. And yet, his writing has only gotten worse.
