Are you serious? JRRT developed a full history for his series. He defined the fantasy genre. JRRT put time and effort into it! I couldn't make it past the first page of Eragon because it was so terrible, but I can reread LOTR because it's interesting and continues to be so.

Then again it's like comparing apples and oranges, you just can't do it.

Also, LOTR has been around for seventy years, I bet you no one will remember Eragon in seventy years.

To some maybe, it doesn't bore me at all. I enjoy it a lot, then again I've been a fan since I was twelve, so it's been six years of loving it, I'm biased.
