WarnerMedia is dropping every movie intended for theatrical release onto HBO Max in 2021 concurrently with theaters.

HBO Max is only in the US (well, there are minor changes in some, mainly as it still has some of the HBO GO remnants on other countries), so, uh, pirate them?

It's really interesting from a business perspective

It's also great for me cuz I have access to my mom's HBO Max account

The changes to HBO with the advent of HBO Max is annoying in every way. I have an HBO subscription but not Max. Before, I used the HBO app on my Roku TV pretty often but now they've disabled the HBO app. I have to run through weird hoops to watch HBO shows through the Xfinity app and even then there are shows I can't watch because I have the HBO subscription but not Max. At this point, I'd cancel HBO full stop just to be a pain in the ass but honestly it's the same price either way so I guess I'll keep it. I told my sister though that I might prefer just to cancel HBO and pirate everything rather than jump through hoops only to find out the show I want to watch is an HBO Max title.

I'm so fucking glad I live on an island and I can go see In The Heights in a theatre ♥
