Oh it's not as fascinating as all that! I know the feeling though, I'm a sucker for Ocean's 11 style movies too lol.

It was just honestly a combination of good luck (for once!) and happening to have friends with access to these dolls. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity thing, but not something that I would have ever expected to happen or asked about myself. It's not like this is something you could just waddle on up to a random owner of one of these dolls and ask if you could please-oh-please privately cast their doll? First off that's like a case study in how to get excommunicated from the hobby lol, and second off the owner pool is so small that word would get around in a millisecond.
