I wish my youngest sister had good friends like yours. She felt so pressured by the bjdoll community that she ended up resorting to selling a lot of her electronics without us knowing and then it escalated to theft. At home and in public. All so she could afford a doll and accessories she's been fixated on.

She finally broke down when my family confronted her.

She's based her entire social media life around these dolls, we had no idea that she rarely interacted with people outside the 'hobby'. And i put the word hobby in brackets because after viewing the forums she's been sucked into over the years i honestly believe that it's more like a cult.

Having everything all come to a head like this has really frightened her and as much as I'm sad that she's now taking the painful decision to no longer interact with BJD, I'm happy that she's looking into hobbies that are easily attainable and contain individuals that aren't as elitist as the ones i witnessed when she finally let me look at what she'd been interacting with for years.
