I started writing fic in my current fandom before the series ended.

There are many things I had to make up before the final season aired, and even after the final season aired, there were huge plot holes and a lack of character building for characters that were not the show creator's pets.

In effect, the fics I wrote before the final season have been effectively "Jossed", so I had the choice of either abandoning the series of fics I had already been writing for months in favor of canon or stay on the path I'd already started forging.

So I've stayed on the path to fill in the plotholes and flesh out a version of the final season I can be happy with. The canon ending isn't bad, but a lot of characters got a short shrift, so I'm going to fix that with a more well-rounded version because I'm not constrained by seasons and episode counts.

If that's being "up my butt", well, at least I'm having fun! :)
