I think it would be less popular, but not "a lot." I think het would be much more popular, but that wouldn't detract from the amount of slash that gets shipped. Ships aren't a finite resource, you can start shipping more het while still being just as into slash as you were before. The only people who would stop being into slash would be those who only ship it because they can't find any good het (and I mean literally ONLY as in this is their single solitary reason for slashing at all and they think they were forced into it by lack of good het), and despite what strawmen get trotted out, those people are a very tiny fraction of slash shippers.
