(OP here!) My spicy take is that...

...As much as I want to believe that, I don't think it's true. I think slash is so popular in huge part because so much of fandom has this really weird misogynistic "vagiphobia" running through it. It confuses me how so much of fandom is supposedly made up of non-straight women and yet fandom can be some of the worst, most virulently gross spaces when it comes to rhetoric about vaginas and sex that happens to involve said vagina.

I like to read/look at trans guy fics/art/doujins and I notice this so much, offended little twits love to come into comment sections by the dozens on clearly marked and tagged trans male/fantasy "c-boy" (sorry, I wish there were a better name for the fantasy futa-but-reversed-gender concept) and then they complain and argue about how gross and icky and disgusting it all is, "ewww vagoooo in my yaoi how DARE U", etc. And I can't help but notice how this attitude extends to female characters often as well, there's a definite sexual undertone to a lot of fan's dislike of them.

Plus, not to be a downer but masc-AFAB people do NOT get the love they deserve. Everybody and their brother drools over "uwu kawaii fem penis", but butch girls, tomboys, trans mascs/trans men, etc, get looked at with a distinctly...neutered gaze, for lack of a better term.

I believe this trope is so unpopular because it has the death-blow combo of being about an "icky" M/F couple and distinctly because of the "masculine girl" half of the combo. Femboy x fem girl isn't super popular either but it's way, way more popular than having the girl be gender nonconforming as well. The femboy/femgirl dynamic seems to exist mainly to be a vehicle for a quasi sissification fantasy with a sprinkling of pseudo-lesbianism, hence why I specified I like when the femboy is assertive and comfortable with himself, I really dislike the whole "I'll make you my girlfriend" dynamic that exists in most of the already rare media for het femboys.

NAYRT

You sound like you're either twelve, or trolling for reactions.

Wow, way to swerve away from relatability!

Okay, here's a shitty take to counter your own dumb shitty take: I think most people only create trans guy content because they're actually homophobic and want to earn woke points by writing/drawing the same dumb PIV hentai content they're used to without actually having to touch icky gay content.

Lol I think you actually believe this though tbh even if you're lampshading it by acknowledging that you're being shitty. I'm not going to touch OP's comment (I actually agree with some of it in principle but wow did it take a turn from their generally nice secret and now was not the time), but I've seen this shitty take as a trans man plenty of times and it's ALWAYS fetishy BL loving fangirls who can't STAND that trans men get a crumb of representation in slash and BL works. Not to mention fact checking this for even one second proves this idea wrong. The people who draw trans male art and content are the same people drawing regular slash content. I've never seen even ONE person who draws/writes het as their main content and then does Cis guy/trans guy works. In fact basically every single work I can think of is done by people who primarily if not EXCLUSIVELY draw/write cis guy/cis guy stuff.

This just sounds like garden variety transphobia.

It's not transphobia to not want to read erotica featuring trans people. It's just a preference. And if most people have that preference as you seem to think then eh, that's just life. Get over it.

Lol you can think what you like, doesn't make it true.
Thing is - what the person I replied to said AND your whining about evil fetishising fujoshi? That's just garden variety misogyny. Hence the comparison with the point I made.
Also, you seriously think people don't fetishise trans content? It's the big fat shiny new fetish on the fandom market.
