Okay, I have no clue what fandom this is, but that's cracking me up.

(Anonymous) 2020-12-05 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
...Wait wait wait. Was this that infamous Stargate fic???

OP

(Anonymous) 2020-12-05 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep! I doubt many people remember it now but it was called Dr Daniel Jackson's Diary, and the actor was the man who played Paul Davis. ((((Facepalm))))

nayrt
Oh my god, I remember hearing about this...

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2020-12-05 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
OP Oh cripes, which bit? The fic or the incident? I hope to god it wasn't the incident D:

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2020-12-05 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh sorry, I mean the guac lube! Not the incident LOL

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2020-12-05 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Phew!

Yeah the Guacamole lube was pretty famous in some fan circles for a while. XD

I actually loved that fic, it was brilliant.

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2020-12-05 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
But the Guac wasn't used as lube - Daniel was just so drunk he thought Paul had used it!

I wish I still had a copy of this fic I loved it so much.

Oh yes I remember now - it was the sour cream dip wasn't it???

It was a flipping amazing fic, it's such a shame she took it down. I have it saved to CD somewhere, might try and find it for my Christmas reading.

I just found it on my harddrive! I don't know how we'd go about this but can try and get you a copy if you like? Like in google docs word form or something?

Here's the WaybackMachine link to the first chapter (with links to the rest on the left side):

I printed this fic out I loved it so much. But I've since lost it in a house move. And the original author took it offline, and seems to be embarrassed by it now. :-(

Ah no, i'm sorry that sucks. I think I still have my copy. I did manage to get it off Wayback Machine at one point and saved the whole thing.

Is the author embarrassed of it? That's such a shame. It had some outstanding moments. The brainslugs killed by caffeine overdose, the guac incident, anal adventures in lapland....

Apparently I saved it to my harddrive. A copy is on offer if you want? Uh... somehow??

I'd like it too. Maybe you can upload it to some filesharing site.

Aww, I'm sorry, OP but these fan stunts kind of bug me. I feel like actors don't need to be privy to our fannish activities (or more importantly, porn).

(Anonymous) 2020-12-05 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
OP Oh I agree. The context was a bit different at the time. This was waaaay way back in the day, when fic was still underwraps and not mentioned to the actors or writers. There was no social media to blur those lines either. We had no anticipation of it being understood as a reference to anything, it was just a stupid private joke between dumbass teenage fangirls. Needless to say even that tiny hint that he knew was enough to put us off doing anything like that again! We had anticipated he might think we were nuts, but would never have set out to embarrass an actor on purpose.

Cons are a liminal space OP! You never know what the actor is aware of if they are doing cons, imo.

(Anonymous) 2020-12-05 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I was very, very naive and a complete idiot!

(Anonymous) 2020-12-05 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL yes, you did deserve it. But it's also good that you can laugh about it now.

(Anonymous) 2020-12-05 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
OP We absolutely did! He was such a pro in how he handled it - slightly raised eyebrow at us, knowing amused smirk, no other remark just signed it and we moved on lol. Masterfully parried back. For such a tiny moment remains one of my fondest con memories.
