Re: Storylines that have always bugged you

I read that it was mentioned on Young Sheldon recently that Sheldon and Amy did have at least one kid, a son named after Leonard. As someone who also doesn't want kids, it's annoying that apparently all characters on everything ever have to have kids (even ones that started out not wanting them), but honestly, society is so obsessed with people having kids that although I wish it was different, I don't expect anything else.

I expected it too anon but it's just so...disheartening? You can be involved in raising the next generation, trying to teach them right etc without being the one who created and/or birthed them. I wish this would be acknowledged more because then maybe it would stop being seen as such a fringe issue.

Oh, it's definitely disheartening. Every time I turn on the news, there's someone flipping out about schools being closed and BUT WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN???!!! hand wringing, and honestly, I'm just tired of hearing people talk about kids in general, but I can't imagine it'll ever change, because there's always going to be the whole "the children are our future!" mindset. What you said is probably more realistic than for society to suddenly stop revolving around kids, but I'm so tired of it.

At least with Sheldon and Amy, there was one previous episode where Sheldon had mentioned wanting a kid with her, I guess? (Though he had some weird ideas about how they would go about raising it.) It's been eons since I watched the show though so I don't remember much about it.
