Pretty good. It is still cold here (for San Antonio anyway). In the low 40s. Woke up fairly early because my cat climbed up on top of me to demand her tuna.

I spent the morning finishing my fic for the Tolkien Secret Santa NSFW advent calendar. It is all finished, and I'm really happy with it. It is scheduled to be posted on my Tumblr on December 10.

Had spaghetti leftovers for lunch. Watched a few episodes of Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Now I'm about to start a nap. Will probably sort some music in the evening and put some on my ipod.

I'm going on an overnight trip with my mum - we're driving out to a local historical site I've never visited, and staying overnight nearby, and having a look around other things in the area before we come home tomorrow.
The weather hasn't been the best lately, but I hope it'll give us a break!

Also I need a refill on, like, all my meds, and that's a drag :(

Today is my rest day, plus its cold and wet out so I'm staying home, at least until things dry out a little (then I might go for a walk, idk). I made a pot of tea and wrapped up in a fresh-from-the-dryer blanket as I'm doing laundry, and I'm currently switching between the Star Wars marathon on TNT and various football games. I'm making roast duck with a warm potato salad for dinner tonight. Supermarket Sweep is on tonight. I'll try to get to bed early tonight as tomorrow is a big cardio day and I'll be going for an hour-long run in the morning.

Made a gingerbread house with the nephews.
Now understand why my mother never made one with us as kids - I mean, we managed, but it was far more nerve-racking than I expected. And hey, it may be a bit of a drippy, wonky mess, but it IS standing - also, managed the whole thing without swearing! Yay!

Got woken up by an explosion or gunshot somewhere in the neighborhood at 4:44am... spent most of the rest of the day in bed because the lack of sleep (hard to go back to sleep after that) made my health problems worse, managed to finish a draft of the first chapter of the fic I just started properly writing yesterday. Then I decided I should really go over to the park and do my daily pokestop spin. Somehow wound up walking 2km along the trails despite barely dragging myself out of bed to begin with.

It would all be kind of nice except for the usual health crap and the post-fic-posting depression I'm in because I just finished the previous big project and got it on AO3 a couple days ago (which is why I'm immediately throwing myself into a new one). Also the explosion/gunshot I guess. I still don't know what that was, but it sure was loud.

Painted a Christmas card (family tradition) but my mother is being annoying about it so I might have wasted a day painting. Yay.

I also finally caved and downloaded Genshin Impact for my tablet and played for a bit. I like it so far but the controls on the tablet gave me major motion sickness. I heard there is crossplaying for the Android and PC version, but not for the PS4. I'm still fairly early in the game and could switch to the PS4 version but I can also just play on the PC and try again on the tablet some other time... not sure. Maybe I can fiddle with the sensitivity of the controls a bit.

I stayed up super late working on posting my first fic ever onto AO3. Was able to get a little sleep and woke to see I already got a couple kudos and comments!! Didn't think I would get any hits so I'm feeling pretty good!

Chilling today, relaxing by babysitting my sister's baby girl. She's easy to take care of.

I got my laundry and grocery shopping done, went for a walk with my aunt, planted some veggie starts (something ate most of what I planted from seed, I hope these fare better) and fucked up my shoulder and back. Waiting for ibuprofen to kick in before I put the trash and recycling out and feed my critters.

I'm happy I have a good job considering all the people who've lost theirs, but I'm not looking forward to work for the next few weeks.

I actually quite like Kirk in TOS. Sexual politics of the era aside, he's quite a nuanced character.

Nebula. I really loved her character growth. We really come to understand her, to pity her, and to see why she was the way she was. And then she has major character growth and a believable redemption arc.

Bill Potts. I was pleasantly surprised by how she became tied for my favorite companion with Donna. She followed the longest lasting New Who companion, Clara. She had big shoes to fill. And yet, she was amazing right from the get-go. I was instantly in love with her. She was a great match for 12.

How much I loved the 12th Doctor. 11 was my Doctor. Still is. I didn't want to lose him. And yet, 12 has become my second favorite, and Smith only beats him by a very slight amount for me. He's amazing. Peter Capaldi just did such a superb job.

How cool Sauron is once you read the Silmarillion. In LOTR there are hints of it (the mention of him finding Shelob amusing), but mostly he's just the villain overlord. But in the Silmarillion suddenly he's brilliant, creative, seductive, a long-term planner, and basically an amazing villain in every nearly way possible.

Mage in Richi's King Arthur. She has no romantic role and she doesn't wear Hollywood make up. She even has dark circles.

Zelgadis fom Slayers was a nice surprise, as well as Zuko.

Lan Wangji, because I'd thought the actor was stiff and maybe just unskilled but then I warmed up and saw some real depth to his stoic performance.

Wei Wuxian seemed overly cutesy to me at first but then I appreciated how flawed and conflicted he was, and how he always tried to follow his moral compass even in the face of strong social disapproval.

Guanggyao was pretty impressive to me because I thought he was pretty over the top and weaselly but his motivations were really understandable to me. Things just got out of hand and he couldn't step them back. I could understand that.

SaGa Frontier HD Remaster

(Anonymous) 2020-12-06 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
MY BODY IS SO READY.

I was twelve years old when this game came out and it became one of my top favorite RPGs of all time. I never admitted it to my friends, but I didn't give a shit about FFVII when this game came out because it was much more to my liking. I was OBSESSED. I managed to get a japanese copy and played it without even knowing a lick of the language. I hunted down soundtracks and art books and strategy guides. And now it's getting a remaster, where they restored cut content and finally FINISHED the game.

I'm praying that more people play it this time around and give it a chance, because around 14/15 is when I started getting into fandom and the fan works were practically non-existent. It has something for everyone and I really really really hope people revive the fandom so I can properly enjoy it at my older age.
