I think it is genuinely difficult to tell where and how to draw the line between what they actually did on the one hand, and how that was portrayed and how perceptions were shaped in the press.

But you yourself admit that Middleton didn't necessarily fit the classic proper upper class mold either.

I absolutely agree that it's difficult to say what really happened and what didn't.

Kate has kept her mouth shut and done what's expected of her. Speaking generally, that's what we expect from royals. Don't complain, do charity work, don't be a dickhead.

Meghan I had great sympathy for until she and Harry made that bloody documentary where they moaned for a whole hour straight. I don't doubt they face hardships, but they're still incredibly priveleged, and what's more the tax payer is partly funding your lifestyle so shut the fuck up. There is so much poverty in Britain, more than you'd expect, and here are these 1% morons moaning on tv.

They decided to leave - fair enough, again sympathetic to them not wanting to deal with the tabloids especially after Diana. But then they did it in the stupidest way possible, mucking up at every turn. And they claimed they left for 'privacy' only to continue to maintain public profiles and went off to live hedonistically in America.

In the end even those of us who were fine with MM ended up thinking she and Harry were both kind of pricks.

Kate I mostly feel sorry for. I don't envy her at all.
