165. He's a scientologist? D: Why do people convert to this "religion"? It's such bullshit.

If it makes you feel better, I think he was born into it. Unfortunately, I think he dragged some of his fellow cast members in.

Yeah, he and his siblings were all born into it. I have a little more compassion for people like that than the ones who choose it, but still, as soon as your logical reasoning kicks in why are they still playing along?!

Most of the time they stay in because the church will find them and/or harass them if they leave. A friend of mine slipped out under the radar a few years ago and the church is still trying to get in contact with her.

Oh, I'm aware, it's a scary, vicious cycle.

Fear. Everyone they know and love is in the "church" and leaving it means losing them. To us, it seems so logical to just get up and walk away, but to be in the situation is different. If I told you right now that everything you thought you knew was wrong and you had to leave everything behind, could you do it just like that?

They've had a lifetime of brainwashing anyway, so they think that nothing is wrong. They don't use logic.
