The real life Asian cultures weren't swallowed by European influence. There is no evidence at all that any such European cultures ever existed in the Avatar world. The way I see it, the 'racial' differences you see seem to be indicative of the fact that, you know, even within 'the Asian race', there are differentiations in physical features as well. Pale skin is not a nonexistent trait in Asians.

Of course it isn't. But there is *obvious* proof that 'Asian' is not the default setting in this world - the Water Tribe. They clearly have Inuit inspiration, and nobody but the Hollywood casting crew has ever tried to deny that. This fact makes it much more plausible that half of the world would be a non-Asian culture that absorbed and reflected the predominant Asian influences; rather than just randomly having this one tiny group of people at either pole who are so blatantly DIFFERENT for no particular reason.

Or, it could be that the creators used different real life cultures as inspirations for their various fantasy nations - cultures that did not, in this case, include European ones. Inuit as default for the Water Tribe, a mixture of various Asian cultures for the other three nations. One thing has nothing to do with the other.

Your argument as presented by your secret relies heavily on the notion that in our world, invasive imperialism is strongly tied to European countries, but in the Avatar world, there would be no reason to say that - supposedly European cultures were absorbed.

Lastly, I would think that the peculiarity of the Water Tribe's culture as necessitated by their geographical location would be reason enough for them to be different from the rest of the world.
