128. Huh... was totally expecting a big wank to break out over this and 152. You just never can tell whats gonna stir up the flames here.

146. HAHAHAHA win.

156. Oh God. This. *hugs* I fucking HATE when death is used as a cheap dramatic device to make it more tragic. And then there's the excuse "well war really is like that!" Sure, and thats why all the little kids (except Colin Creevy) just miraculously survived, while Remus and Tonks were relegated to canon fodder. What really made me furious was that she wanted to leave an orphan but then was like "Oh but don't worry he grew up totally happy and healthy and has a hot french girlfriend lol" So the message is "war is hell" AND "happily ever after, no worries!!!" Sirius and Dumbledore's deaths were handled with grace and genuine poignancy, and while they make me cry, they don't infuriate me like how Remus and Tonks' demise.

156. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Thank you.

Except Sirius didn't get a funeral and Harry didn't get closure. We went from a total breakdown at the end of one book to hijinks at the Burrow pretty quickly in the next one. Harry wasn't even allowed to grieve....

yeah i was abit annoyed by that too, but at least there was a breakdown in the first place, and Sirius in a way is a tragic hero in his own right. Not that it makes it any less upsetting but his death at least had narrative heft, even if they glossed over it in book six (they dont have memorial services in the wizarding world? lame). Remus was NOT meant to be a tragic figure, he was meant to live until JKR had it in her head that WE MUST HAVE AN ORPHAN and oh that infuriates me.

Maybe this is the bitter fan in me, but I felt that JKR's red herrings and plot filler got really clumsy and overwhelming in HBP and DH. As though she didn't have a lot of actual plot to go through, so we got pages upon pages of the trio squabbling in a tent and then, oh look, Tonks and Lupin are "sleeping." Moving on...

TBH, though, I never really understood what purpose was served by Tonks and Lupin having a baby. As you say, he's just sort of mentioned in the epilogue to let us know that he's still around and such.

Well if nothing else at least we know dear Remus was getting some :P

But yeah, it pisses me off that their romance in book six was treated as a big red herring rather than something that could develop naturally.

JKR stated herself that she wanted an orphan to make things come "full circle." Perhaps that was the purpose of Teddy's birth.

I never understood why she even had Lupin and Tonks come together to be honest. She wrote their relationship horribly, and it messed with both character's narratives as well as the overall plot.
