Okay, we're obviously not going to agree on this.

If you're in a professional setting, you'd want to use all your words correctly. Whether or not a word is commonly used incorrectly or not, if you were composing a letter, or speaking to a supervisor, you'd want to use your words correctly. Fair or not, people are judged by the way they speak and write.

The accepted norm of the word typo is as a noun. Grammar is actually not subjective, that's why the rules of grammar are referred to as just that: rules. There are right ways and there are wrong, and I'm probably rigid about this, but to me, grammar is important, and I'm not going to attempt to bend it to my will.

I'd want to use my words in a matter that I would be understood and that my intentions would be clear. That is all. Whether they are grammatically correct or not is beside the point. If people judge me by that, fine. If they judge me by it to my face or where I can hear/see, they get their prescriptivist ass called on it.

I would like to point you to comma rules if you don't think that rules of grammar are at least sometimes subjective. They fluctuate so highly that I stopped paying attention to most grammar books when it came to them.

But as you said, I'm not sure that we will agree on this.
