Oogh, yeah. That I hate. And I actually find it weird when something less physical is used to describe -- like, I can get "he placed his hand on the shorter girl's head" even if we already know the girl's name, but it really feels out of nowhere to me if it's like "she smiled at the artist" or something and there's no reason there for them to be randomly thinking about the person's profession or hobby. If you're walkin' down the street and talking to your friend you might be at least subconsciously noticing that they're shorter or they have blonde hair, but it's less likely you're thinking "this is my friend so and so and they are a writer! 8|b"

But it's mostly preference when it comes down to it. I go "eeeegh" when something gets repeated way too much too, and yeah, I've seen that a lot. Any sort of constant usage besides names, pronouns, and "said" gets really, really weird looking.

But then, it could be far worse. They could be making up words like calling the boy in my icon a "silveret." Yes I am totally serious ;;

I can agree with you there.

And I'm sort of amused by silveret, but that's because I live with an ESL speaker and I'm used to random made up words. I spent three years of my childhood wondering what the hell a doohickerythinger was and why it was shaped like a doorknob.

Silveret sounds like a bird to me. 8| So I can't take it seriously when someone's calling the local dickjerk that. XD At least it's not the DNAngel fandom, where apparently they had people calling one of the characters a "bluette"... which I may be mistaken but I think is an actual bird (just spelled wrong), which amuses the crap outta me. XD

... Doohickerythinger is so cute. But then those kind of made up words, I love. Doodad is an awesome word too. :>

And it just hit me that I meant to use the word epithet, not euphemism. FTFF, self.
