101) Fandom is shallow. It's all about the squee -- the narrow, narrow pigeon-holed squee -- and ephemeral as all hell. Sometimes friendships spring from them, but lasting impact on the fandom itself? -- not so much. Even BNFs pass into obscurity amazingly quickly once they leave (unless they do something absurdly wanky). It's no reflection on you if you aren't remembered, don't judge yourself that way. The important thing is not will you be remembered by a group of strangers, but rather are you being supportive of your real friends. If you are, they will still be with you when you switch fandoms.

106) Repeat as a mantra: I can enjoy a film/book/manga/etc without the permission of others. Now go watch the cool movie, and who cares what the sticks fandom might have up its collective asses. Besides, as someone who bought and enjoyed the graphic novel as individual comics when it first came out -- the movie does look cool. Your brother is just being a dick.

110) I think the parable falls apart as soon as you start assigning historical nations to the four tribes. Fire nation aren't caucasion. Their hair, clothes, culture, features aren't particularly western. They are fire nation, an imaginary race from an imaginary world.

112) Post it, and distance yourself from that friend. She's being an ass and that kind of behavior shouldn't be rewarded with respect.

116) I'm well respected as a fan fic and an original fic writer-- and I enjoy my personal!sues daily. I just keep them to myself. <3 (No one would get how truly sparkly wonderful they are anyway.)

I don't mind their philosophy -- they can believe what they like -- but the church itself has crossed the line with it's criminal mistreatment of children and the mentally ill and anyone who dares disagree with them. Their tactics are evil and they prey on their own in dispicable ways. The sooner they are disbanded and their leaders sent to jail, the better.
