idk. Not like other girls has always been a redundant statement since its conception. It's essentially based on the juxtaposition of the 'it' girl, aka popular pretty and pink. So it was never about being proud of your own self as much as it was about, literally, not being a popularized photograph of a plastic. The term is born from resentment, otherwise there'd be no reason to state it.
Since then there really hasn't been much growth, imo. There really isn't any two ways to take it, so while the 'I'm not conventionally popular so I'm gonna double down on that' mindset remains the same even as the idea of what's popular might change, the resentment stays the same.

Also what anon thought about OP's 'not like other girls' secret, was, well, completely inaccurate. I'm assuming they just thought they were being clever by making the comment without reading the secret only for it to completely backfire on them- so I sincerely would not take their interpretation of the term with a grain of salt. They're just using it wrong.

This. Moreover, AYRT has completely mischaracterized the inherent problem with "Not Like the Other Girls," which is not "girls like a/b/c so if I like x/y/z it means I'm weird." It's that "Not Like the Other Girls" became shorthand for "Not Into All that Shallow and Dumb Girly Stuff." And, of course, in media, it's more like "this girl likes talking about cars and doesn't talk about shopping or fashion, despite the fact that she's clearly wearing about $1200 worth of clothes and makeup."
