HP fandom ALSO had the "this finale must be fake, let's wait for the REAL one" thing! Remember the Carpet Book?

For those who weren't there: someone got hold of an advance copy of Deathly Hallows and took pictures of key pages and leaked them online. The pages showed plot developments that, shall we say, made some fans unhappy and absolutely convinced that the book had to be an elaborate hoax. (It was called the Carpet Book because it was laid out on a carpet.)

I was on fandom blackout before Deathly Hallows to avoid spoilers so this is new info to me.

This is amazing! I hate it.

I still run into some fandom folks who self-identified as Harmonians. Every single one of them still have that thing where they reject any facts that don’t support their opinions.

I kind of wish we could track this hard-core rejection of reality wrt fandom and conspiracy theories. Because sure people can change, but they usually don't.
