103. LMAO, oh honey, shut the fuck up already. Not feeling confident in being an activist does not equal not caring. Sure, if you don't speak up at all, ever, even in casual conversation IRL, you're a hypocrite. But feeling your place isn't in something more difficult- and yes, plenty of people find those sorts of activities difficult if damn well worth it- or feeling you aren't qualified to participate in them due to limited experience or knowledge and so not sticking your foot in your mouth and doing 'em anyway?

Some of us aren't the kind of people who can do that sort of thing effectively. I count myself amongst these. I care about racism. I get damned well worked up about it when I see it, be it directed towards someone I've never met or my BFF. But I'm not about to pretend to be something I'm not because, ooh, anti racism sentiments are only valid in the forms YOU CHOOSE. Because it's not like everyday events are, like, important or anything.

TL;DR: get your head out of your pretentious ass and grow the hell up.

You fight racism by...you know, fighting it. Wherever you see it. If one of the big important things in your life is fandom, then hells yes, if you see racism in your fandom, you say something.

If the only people who fought racism (or any other injustice) were the people who did it For A Living--nothing would get done. Everybody has to do it in their own small way. That's what changes things.
