I care about racism. When I see it, I speak up. When I hear about it, I speak up. This was the first real example I had seen that I could understand and put together an argument for racism in casting.

Does that mean I am some self-righteous asshole because it affected my beloved Avatar? No. I've seen the people who care about this issue put together some interesting and valid arguments and it got people to take notice.

So what if it is over a cartoon. People have now taken notice. The fans became outspoken and gave this issue an even louder voice. And they are passionate. And if it inspires change, wonderful. So what if that change came from some passionate Avatar-loving fans. It's the changes that are important. How we get to those changes comes in many ways.

Sometimes it takes something hitting close to home or to something you love to make you speak up. It happens all the time over many issues.
