Not OP, but I don't like Castiel either, so I'll butt in here. I don't find anything endearing about him, and he always seems so one note. The few times when they have had a chance to flesh him out have really fell short for me and I just feel they could do so much more, but they're holding back. He's not funny, not adorable, not...much of anything and it bugs me to see so much screen time devoted to him...or any screen time, really. I get no spark from him and most of the things he does kind of pisses me off. If Sam doesn't get to punch him in the face by the end of the season, I'll be disappointed.

This is just my side, of course, I don't mean to speak for the OP at all.

I don't think he's supposed to be endearing or emotional or anything like that. In fact, I keep being surprised whenever he seems to show any kind of feeling. I kinda think of him as one of those angels from that flick with Meg Ryan and Nic Cage, very stoic, ya know? *shrugs*

I kinda want Sam to clock him, too, though, even though I really like him, lol.

ITA. I don't need the angels to end up being like the angels from Touched by an Angel or some chick flick moment. Castiel, IMO, is ten times more accurate to the angel mythology then Anna ever will be, even though I like her, I can't imagine someone like that being an angel.

Yep, and I like them that way. I think we get enough angst and emotion with the boys, lmao. I don't need weeping Angels. I want hardcore Michael the Archangel type shit going on.

Anna I can see being a Seraphim, maybe.

I get what you mean, which is probably what turns me off of him. I think I have problems with characters that don't seem to feel much because I can't feel anything for them. He's definitely rocking the stoic!angel frowny-face though.

Sam deserves to hit someone. Everyone seems to be getting in hits but him this season and I don't really think there's too much lost love between him and Cas.

Poor Sam, seriously. Everyone's been bitching about him this season, and while he isn't my favorite, I totally agree. He needs to beat someone or something's ASS.

Or maybe we're supposed to think he took out all of his frustration on Ruby? But I'd love to see him just take it all out on someone.

you actually brought something up that i forgot in my long-ass comment - he's very one note. i'm not saying he has to be adorable or even likable, but to make me appreciate him more as a character, they're gonna have to make him do more than saying something cryptic while standing there and looking pretty.

and i'd kind of love to see sam punch him in the face, too. :)
