Haha, it's probably not that bad for foreigners, especially if you come for a shorter time. I mean, I knew and still know lots of people from various countries who come here to study or something, and they love being here (even though they often go "wtf, is this place for real?" :D).

But us natives (and, well, pretty much anyone who stays for a longer time) are in it deeper and see things from a different perspective. The political climate is horrible and really wears the nation down, the future looks even worse, the economy is struggling to survive, the agriculture is half-dead already, the far-right is on the rise, etcetera, etcetera. So I think being Hungarian is not a very good choice right now.

(But please don't let this ruin your expectations. ^^;; There are generally two kinds of Hungarians - those who love this place and are proud of being Hungarian, and those who are in this weird love-hate-but-mostly-embarrassment relationship with the country, and in spite of everything they still have a soft spot for it... guess which group I belong to. :D)
