Live Action YYH Series

I know there’s a few YYH fans here (are we still doing the watch-along?), so I’m wondering what you all think about the fact that Netflix announced a live action series. No visuals yet and apparently it’s “inspired by”, but hopefully it’s not as terrible as Netflix’s Death Note.

reserving judgment. if it's a Japanese production and netflix's involvement is solely stamping their name on distribution rights, it could be as decent as the Bleach movie. which was decent, not amazing. watchable once. but I don't trust netflix meddling so if they have any hand in it that is more than just "yes we bought the rights to stream this worldwide" then nope.

Has the potential to be absolutely incredible if done right. Rurouni Kenshin proved that shonen titles can indeed be successfully adapted into liveaction... and I'd personally LOVE a liveaction YYH that's akin to Nightbreed (1990) in terms of production value and heightened levels of camp. Lmfao.

Sorry, lol yeah I tend to forget what day it is. But the rewatch is still on!

I've become addicted in a short period of time and now have entered S3/Post Dark Tournament. Where is everybody else in the show (those still rewatching?)?

Per your question: Oh no. :(((( I don't ever like the live action versions of anime... I've honestly never seen one, but the thought just puts me off, and I'd only ever consider it if I ran out of source material (Like that time I wanted to find the soap opera version of off brand Inuyasha). I might watch it. But I can feel the incoming disappoinment lol.

Horrible idea. "Netflix adaptation" is a meme for a reason. And even if it's a Japanese production, that's no guarantee. Japanese productions fuck up live action all the time. Kenshin was cited upthread, but those films are rarities in a sea of crap.

Honestly after their Saint Seiya and their Death Note I'm EH about it.

What's something nice that you have done for someone else, or that someone else has done for you? Preferably recently, but it doesn't have to be - I know not all FSers have been able to get out and about much lately.

A band I like did a livestream concert and charged a small fee for tickets to cover the costs of the livestream. I bought a few extra tickets and messaged the codes to people in the comments who had said they wished they could afford tickets.

It's weird because I'm not religious but I talked to a woman whose daughter died. She said she was really overwhelmed right now and not really knowing what to say, I told her that I was sorry for her loss and I'd pray for her so every time it comes to mind, I pray. I hope she finds some comfort anyway.

Someone gave me a 1-month subscription in Twitch for a channel. I kind of feel bad because I wasn't asking for it but I was bitching about ads (not realizing it was rank-based) and they did that so I wouldn't have to see ads. Anyway, it was nice.

the delivery people constantly leave packages nowhere near where they're supposed to be in my apt bldg, which is big, it has 250 apartments, so I bring them to the correct apartments. (I don't knock on the doors because of covid and anyway I don't want to bother people)

I'm just really appreciative I have friends that understand where my melancholy is coming from and don't get upset with me for it when I can't behave normally in totally mundane situations. It's really nice of them that they have been so patient as I try to sort things out in my head.

I have a friend I normally see at cons, and when I run into her at MAGFest she's usually handing out Lindor truffles to our circle of friends for the holidays. And I hadn't gotten any of the holiday flavors last year due to avoiding stores during flu season, and I wasn't aware she'd be there, so I was glad to see her and the truffles. =)

So of course this year MAG isn't happening, I haven't seen anyone SINCE that con, and I just found a box in my mailbox. I saw who it was from and went "...Huh... Not a card or a picture..."

And then I realized what it might be... and I was right. I don't know if she's been keeping a spreadsheet or what, because half of the truffle flavors were my absolute favorites, and the other half were new ones I'd wanted to try but I haven't been near a Lindt store since early 2018. <3

I recently got back into writing full on and one of my friends has been so encouraging! She asks me constantly how my writing is going and asks if she could assist in keeping me motivated. If not for her I don't think I would be writing so much and with such enthusiasm.

My sister enthusiastically agreed to practice a job interview with me. I have my first proper interview ever next week.

I'm knitting a scarf for one of my roommates. It's the first time I'm knitting something specifically for someone else, and it's the second biggest project I ever made.

Yesterday, I started baking Christmas cookies, and invited my roommates to join in. I felt like a mom when I helped the guy from Colombia bake his first cookies ever, and when I handed a bowl of finished dough, a rolling pin and a ring of cookie cutters to my other roommate and let her experiment with cutting cookies and decorating them. It turned into a little party in the kitchen with the radio playing Christmas music in the background. It was fun and not something we do a lot.

I started watching Alice in Borderland on Netflix and I'm super enjoying it. Also finally starting season 2 of Scream and I added Pretty Little Things to my list as well.

I watched season one and two of The Boys over the past few weeks. I really enjoyed the deconstruction of superheroes and celebrity; and the jabs at the MCU. Hughie and Starlight are the rare canon couple I genuinely appreciate, they were very cute.
