I disliked this movie for a range of reasons - Ralph's insecurity was bad, certainly, but Vanellope was being incredibly selfish for the whole movie, and this was never even pointed out! It was all 'Ohhhh, she has to chase her dreams!' and not a moment of 'Hey, if a character is missing from the game, might that cause problems for others? Like, uh, in the first movie?'
Also that 'girl power' bit with the Disney princesses made me roll my eyes so hard.

But yeah, Disney is playing both sides of this game - they are both 'rebel against tradition! fight the power!' and the aforementioned power, tradition, institution, that their characters are supposedly fighting. It's so fucking trite.

This movie was terrible and not even the Disney Princess cameos could save it.

This movie felt so completely soulless.

I liked this better than the first movie but yeah Disney is no longer subversive. It's like when people complain about Disney Princesses 'giving everything up for a man'.

That hasn't happened since, what, Sleeping Beauty? Calm down.

Wait? What? Aurora never even had anything to give up. Did you mean Pocahontas?

No.

Arguably, Aurora had to give up her woodland life to what, keep the peace between a kingdom alliance.

Huh. That's certainly a take.

At the very least, Sleeping Beauty was the last Disney Princess movie to feature the princess living in exile in a cabin in the woods filled with small, elderly people.

1+. I love, LOVE, the first movie a LOT, but the second movie had absolutely nothing on the first.

The first movie is one of my all-time favorite Disney movies. I think I gave up 45 minutes into "Breaks the Internet." :P
