Re: Experience with sertraline?

(Anonymous) 2020-12-22 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
I was on sertraline for nearly five years, but it was half of the lowest dose they manufacture. I did not have any side effects that I noticed, and I'm sensitive to medications and if there's a freak side effect, I'm likely to find it. In fact, the reason I was on it was because it was the only antidepressant at the time that didn't make my suicidal ideation worse.

The sertraline helped a tiny bit, but roughly a year ago, the psychologist who oversees my therapy suggested trying Effexor. That's been like magic for me. My doctor and I worked on the dosage because a high enough dose makes it impossible for me to sleep, but at the right dosage, my suicidal ideation is just gone. It only creeps back when it's almost time for the next dose. So it's still there, but at least I'm no longer in a perpetual wrestling match.

Antidepressants are a pure crap shoot 99% of the time. Just don't be afraid to speak up if one isn't working for you, ASAP.
