I feel like Turkish delight would go over better with kids than adults. To an adult, it's painfully sweet but kids aren't as picky about it.

I've not tried it as an adult because that incident really put me off! I had a sweet tooth as a kid but I just really didn't like it, I can't even remember what it was but I definitely spat it out.

My sweet tooth is completely dead now so from what you're saying I probably still wouldn't like it! Ah well, more for everyone else.

You spit it out! Ha! It's still a little better than my sister's first taste of cheesecake. She actually vomited. I wish my sweet tooth was dead. It would be so much better for me.

Ooh no! I loved cheesecake when I still enjoyed sweet things, once upon a time I would've been devastated had that happened to me.

If it makes you feel any better, what I lack in sweet tooth I more than make up for in demolishing anything savoury and especially if it's salty. Which also isn't good. I'm the kind of person who needs to make a conscious decision to put the lid back on a Pringles tube or else I'll eat the entire thing in one sitting. A share bag of salted cashew nuts isn't shared etc.

I dunno, I never had it as a kid but I like it well enough as an adult. Then again, I don't just have a sweet tooth, I've got a whole mouth full of them, heh. I mean, I don't like Turkish Delight enough to sell out my immediate family, but I do have a fair few relatives I'd be happy to trade to a witch for it. Or, y'know, she can just have 'em. Hell, I should probably be paying her.

I do think it's important to remember that Edmund was a young kid in a time of sugar rationing, so I can see how just about anything sweet would've been pretty tempting to him.
