are you black or african or just trying to be anti-racist? there was a trend in the US for a few weeks to promote the most well-known black western artists and a lot of them do post-colonial afrofuturism, so i can sorta understand why you feel a way, but like, honestly people branching out to more than just white men are doing more than most.

That seems like a very charitable interpretation. To me, they just sound flat-out racist. They're not calling out the hypocrisy of white people promoting Black authors for just two weeks, they're saying the whole genre inherently sucks because...reasons, none of which are very good. Sounds to me like they just don't want to read SF about Africa, and don't think it can ever be good (not just not to their taste, but good at all for anyone).

Occam's Razor points to racism.
